Cabling conditions in East London

East London is a river port with a strong automotive industry. A vehicle assembly plant and component makers in the industrial development zone need three-phase supplies, armoured cable and regular maintenance. The city sits on the coast, so homes in Nahoon, Gonubie and the Quigney feel the effect of salt air on outdoor lights, gate motors and pool pumps. Buffalo City Metro supplies most of the urban area, and ageing municipal infrastructure has made many owners invest in solar and backup batteries. Older homes near the Buffalo River often need rewiring to current standards before they can be sold.

Typical 2.5mm electrical cable requests in the area come from:

Factories and workshops: factory offices and workshops use 2.5 mm cable for general plug circuits
Homeowners: homeowners wire extra plug points, kitchen circuits and garage plugs in 2.5 mm cable
Coastal properties: coastal homes use 2.5 mm cable indoors, with sealed outdoor sockets and fittings
Solar and backup power: solar installs use 2.5 mm cable for dedicated essential-load plug circuits off the inverter
Shops and retail: shops wire plug circuits for tills, displays and small appliances in 2.5 mm cable
