Gauteng
Gauteng is the country's busiest market for electrical cable, from surfix for home renovations to armoured cable for factories, data halls and new townhouse developments. The Highveld sees some of the highest lightning activity in South Africa, so earthing, surge protection and correctly bonded cable runs matter on every job. Supply is split between municipal utilities such as City Power, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni and areas fed directly by Eskom, which affects connection applications and meter positions. Years of load-shedding pushed many homes and businesses towards solar and battery backup, and cable theft remains a serious problem, so buried and exposed runs are planned with security in mind.

Western Cape
In the Western Cape, cable work has to suit both a salty coastline and a busy winter rainfall season. Outdoor runs, distribution boards and glands near the sea need corrosion-resistant fittings, while wet winters expose poor joints and water ingress in older installations. Cape Town's municipal grid helped shield some customers from the worst load-shedding, but rooftop solar has still grown strongly across homes, wine farms and businesses, creating steady demand for PV and battery cable. Farms in the Boland and along the West Coast need long underground feeds to pumps, cellars and staff housing, and building activity in the city and coastal towns keeps wholesalers busy.

KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal's humid coast is tough on exposed copper, terminals and steel accessories, so installers along the Durban coastline and the north and south coasts choose sealed enclosures, stainless or coated fittings and properly glanded armoured cable. Inland, the Midlands and northern areas get frequent summer thunderstorms, and lightning protection is a regular topic on farms and in rural homes. The ports at Durban and Richards Bay, heavy industry and sugar mills create demand for larger power cable and cable tray. Coastal estates and apartment blocks bring complex wiring work, while flooding in recent years has shown the value of well-routed, protected underground supplies.

Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape needs cable for very different settings. Gqeberha, Kariega and East London have motor-industry plants, component suppliers and port operations that use industrial power cable, tray and glands, while the windy, salty coastline calls for corrosion-resistant fittings on outdoor runs. Inland, long distances between farms and towns mean long underground or overhead feeds where volt drop has to be calculated carefully. Several wind farms operate in the province, and rooftop solar has spread through homes and businesses since load-shedding. Older suburbs with aging wiring keep rewiring and COC work steady, and municipal infrastructure upgrades add larger cable contracts.

Free State
Much of the Free State's cable demand comes from farms, where boreholes, centre-pivot irrigation, grain silos and workshops sit hundreds of metres from the supply point. Those long runs need correctly sized armoured cable to avoid volt drop, and open plains with frequent summer thunderstorms make lightning protection and good earthing important. Bloemfontein and Welkom bring residential rewiring, shops and institutional work, while the Sasolburg area has petrochemical and industrial plants with heavier cable needs. Cable theft affects rural lines and pump installations, so many owners ask about burying cable deeper or protecting exposed sections. Solar pumping and backup systems have also become common on farms.
Limpopo
Limpopo's heat is a real factor in cable selection, because high ambient temperatures and exposed runs reduce how much current a cable can safely carry. Mines around Mokopane, Burgersfort and Lephalale, plus the power stations near Lephalale, create demand for heavy industrial and mining cable. Citrus, avocado and subtropical fruit farms around Tzaneen and Letsitele need pump, irrigation and packhouse supplies, often across long distances. Rural towns and lodges far from the grid use solar with battery storage, and many homes in Polokwane added backup systems during load-shedding. Rocky ground in parts of the province makes trenching slow, which affects how underground cable jobs are planned and quoted.
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga is home to most of South Africa's coal-fired power stations and many collieries, so the Highveld towns of eMalahleni, Middelburg and Secunda use large quantities of mining, industrial and medium-voltage cable. The petrochemical complex at Secunda and steel and ferrochrome works add heavy industrial demand. Highveld storms are severe, with lightning and hail that make surge protection and earthing a priority. In the Lowveld around Mbombela and White River, the climate is warmer and wetter, with citrus and macadamia farms, lodges and growing suburbs. Solar uptake has risen across both regions, and cable theft is a persistent issue on mines and in towns.

North West
Platinum mining around Rustenburg and Brits drives much of North West's demand for armoured, mining and industrial cable, along with the contractors and workshops that serve the mines. Elsewhere, maize and cattle farms around Lichtenburg, Vryburg and Klerksdorp need long cable runs to boreholes and outbuildings, and the flat, open landscape is exposed to summer lightning. Cable theft is a recurring problem around mining towns and on farm supplies. Weekend and retirement homes around Hartbeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg add residential and solar work, and Potchefstroom's university and growing suburbs keep electricians busy with new builds, rewiring and backup power installations.

Northern Cape
The Northern Cape has some of the strongest sunshine in the world, and large solar parks around Upington, De Aar and Prieska have made it a centre of renewable-energy construction, with plenty of DC and medium-voltage cable going into the ground. Iron ore and manganese mines near Kathu, Postmasburg and Hotazel use heavy mining cable. Distances are vast, so farm and town supplies often need careful volt-drop calculation, and extreme summer heat reduces cable ratings on exposed runs. Hard, stony ground and calcrete can make trenching slow and costly. Kimberley's older homes need rewiring, while irrigation farms along the Orange River rely on pump supplies.
