Cabling conditions in North West

Platinum mining around Rustenburg and Brits drives much of North West's demand for armoured, mining and industrial cable, along with the contractors and workshops that serve the mines. Elsewhere, maize and cattle farms around Lichtenburg, Vryburg and Klerksdorp need long cable runs to boreholes and outbuildings, and the flat, open landscape is exposed to summer lightning. Cable theft is a recurring problem around mining towns and on farm supplies. Weekend and retirement homes around Hartbeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg add residential and solar work, and Potchefstroom's university and growing suburbs keep electricians busy with new builds, rewiring and backup power installations.

Farms and smallholdings: large farms run private MV lines to pump stations and packhouses with XLPE cable
Homeowners: large homes and estates use LV XLPE cable for long, heavily loaded main supplies
Solar and backup power: large solar plants feed transformers and MV switchgear with XLPE cable
Builders and developers: developers install MV XLPE cable to new mini-substations on estates
Shops and retail: shopping centres use XLPE feeders from transformers to main switchboards
